American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Staten Island is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Staten Island is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First time there. Some young chicks weren't paying attention. One kept touching her new crusty belly piercing then proceeded to touch the baked goods. Then they messed up my cake because they didn’t know how to spell.

Bella and Lilly ( I am 100% sure I spoke to the same person) but keep that in mind. They are such horrible humans and terrible with customer service. It’s almost like they hate doing their jobs and come off as someone is bothering them requesting a cake order. Good grief, I was on the phone with with this person and the heavy breathing and constantly cutting me off and telling me β€œoh that’s not gonna be good, I don’t recommend that” attitude was so obnoxious. I’m paying for what I know the person I’m ordering for LOVES. I had a couple questions about the inches and she tells me to get a ruler in my house, I told her I don’t have a ruler but could she just go on Google Maps FOR THEIR BUSINESS to see an inspiration pic for what I needed. That was a no for her and she said she didn’t have time to do that as she had other things she’s doing. She then says I should hold on and had me on hold for the longest. I hung up and called back and that’s when the voice was the same but the name switched 😌This call was nothing short of pathetic and there is no way I would recommend this business to a pig

I haven’t been to this place in decades (I’d stopped in a couple of times to pick up cakes, with friends and on my own for friends) BUT I can say that their stuff is really good and Cake Chef smells amazing (I still remember how good it smelled in there!)… Their cakes and pastries made us happy. β€οΈπŸŽ‚

We ordered a strawberry shortcake for our daughter’s Sweet 16. It was so beautiful!! The cake was baked perfectly. We got a mix of buttercream and fresh whipped cream. Both were the best I’ve ever had! Absolutely delicious! Thank you Cake Chef!

This is another place I could thank Instagram for introducing me to this 30 year old gem. This cash only bakery may look small, but they have a great assortment of cookies, cakes, pastries, and more. It is so hard to pick something as a first-time buyer, so I opted for some lobster tails and slices of crumb cake. I was truly astounded on how reasonably priced everything is, especially since everything I purchased was great. The lobster tails were huge, loaded with cream, and were very flaky. The store itself is clean and the staff is very friendly and patient. Also, parking doesn't seem to be an issue in this area, so that is another plus. There are other really good bakeries in Staten Island, but I think this is one of the best. I will definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area.
